Silver to Bronze: A Marvel Comics Podcast
”Silver to Bronze: A Marvel Comics Podcast” is a journey through Marvel’s Silver and Bronze Age comics, revisited with fresh eyes. Co-hosts Tony and Scott grew up with stories from this era, but many of the early issues remain unread territory for them. Each episode explores their impressions—both from when they first encountered these comics and how they see them now, decades later. Unlike many discussions that analyze comics through a modern lens, this podcast is about experiencing these stories as they were, appreciating their original context, and discovering what still resonates today. Whether you’re a longtime fan or new to these classic issues, join Tony and Scott as they dive into Marvel’s past with curiosity, nostalgia, and a bit of humor.

This month Scott and I are cracking open three issues of Fanfare, numbers 15, 29, and 51, a Marvel anthology series that gave creators a little more room to stretch. We cover the Thing and the Human Torch getting into their usual trouble, John Byrne putting his stamp on the Hulk, and a Silver Surfer story that, officially speaking, never happened. It is the kind of eclectic mix that makes this series so much fun to revisit. Pull up a chair, pour something cold, and come flip through the longbox with us!

(58) Moon Knight: Three Names, One Man

Wednesday May 20, 2026
This week, Scott and I are cracking open Moon Knight #1 through #5 from 1980, written by Doug Moench with art by Bill Sienkiewicz, and we touch on some of Marc Spector's early appearances along the way. Moench and Sienkiewicz bring a moody, street level energy that sets this series apart from just about everything else Marvel was putting out at the time.

(57) Thor: The God of Thunder Goes Cosmic
Wednesday May 13, 2026
Wednesday May 13, 2026
Scott and I look at Thor issues 160 through 162 from 1969, written by Stan Lee with art by Jack Kirby, a three-issue stretch that pits the God of Thunder against the big guy himself, Galactus, alongside the mind-bending Ego the Living Planet. These issues are where the mythology of Galactus really begins to take shape, and it is a wild cosmic ride from start to finish.

(56) Iron Man: Ice to Meet You, Tony Stark
Wednesday May 06, 2026
Wednesday May 06, 2026
This week, Scott and I are hanging out with Iron Man issues 86 and 87 from 1976, written by Bill Mantlo and penciled by the great George Tuska. A newly reimagined villain named Blizzard is making Tony Stark's life very cold and very difficult, and we had a great time with these two. Bronze Age Marvel at its most fun.

(55) Captain America and the Falcon: Will the Real Steve Rogers Please Stand Up?
Wednesday Apr 29, 2026
Wednesday Apr 29, 2026
Marvel continuity has some crazy loose ends, and in this episode Scott and I dig into one of the best attempts to tie one up. We cover Captain America issues 153 through 156 from 1972, written by Steve Englehart with art by Sal Buscema, a four-part arc that asks a simple but thorny question: if Steve Rogers was frozen after World War II, who exactly was that Captain America running around in the 1950s? Englehart's answer is both clever and surprisingly dramatic.
So kick back, get cozy, and come spend some time with us in the Marvel universe!

(54) Spider-Woman: Not the Hero You Expected
Wednesday Apr 22, 2026
Wednesday Apr 22, 2026
It is 1978 and Marvel is taking a chance on something new and strange. This week Scott and I dig into the first four issues of Spider-Woman, the debut of Jessica Drew, a former Hydra agent navigating a messy, already-retconned origin. Writer Marv Wolfman brings a horror-soaked atmosphere unlike anything else on the stands, paired with the distinctive art of Carmine Infantino.

(53) Ms. Marvel: Who Is This Woman and Why Is She Awesome?
Wednesday Apr 15, 2026
Wednesday Apr 15, 2026
1977 was a big year for Marvel, and Ms. Marvel was a big part of why. Scott and I spend some time with the first four issues of Carol Danvers' debut series, and we found plenty to talk about. Fun comics, a fascinating character, and a top notch creative team behind the scenes that makes the story even more interesting.

Wednesday Apr 08, 2026
Wednesday Apr 08, 2026
Hey everyone! This week Scott and I have finally gotten around to some Silver Age Daredevil with issues 16 and 17, a classic two-parter from 1966 where Stan Lee and John Romita Sr. pull off one of Marvel's all-time great tricks: getting Spider-Man and Daredevil to beat the snot out of each other, and it's all the Masked Marauder's fault! So dust off your longbox, settle in, and let's have some fun!

Wednesday Apr 01, 2026
Hey everyone! This week Scott and I are tackling one of the most powerful and emotionally charged stories in X-Men history, the legendary graphic novel God Loves, Man Kills. It is a heavy one, folks, but we promise to make it a good time as we work our way through this timeless tale that somehow feels just as relevant today as it ever did. And because we like to keep things interesting, we are also spending some time going through one lucky listener's personal top ten favorite comic covers ever! That's right, somebody actually wrote in, and now we all have to live with their choices. Pull up a chair, grab your longbox, and hang out with us!
